Well into the first full day of Tales of the Cocktail, it has become obvious already that this event is swelling fast beyond its current confines. At yesterday’s kick-off over at the Palace Cafe, it was standing room only – and not much of that! – and long line-ups for the bar. Meanwhile, over at the host Hotel Monteleone today, the elevators are being stretched to their occupational limits time and again as people move between the mezzanine and roof seminar areas, and several sessions are well beyond packed, like this afternoon’s group session on Molecular Mixology, which saw every seat occupied and numerous layers of standees at the back and side of the room.
The Monteleone is a great hotel and a fabulous home to Tales, but it is sadly apparent that a new venue may be necessary if this great event is to continue its organic growth.
